Vote for Epoch Moment in the 2019 FedEx Grant Contest- Vote daily until April 1st! -

First and foremost I want to thank everyone who has already voted for me in the contest and shared the post with your friends and family.
It was amazing to see so much support and kind words… I appreciate all of you.

I wanted to let you know that you can vote once every 24 hours until April 1st.
I know, I don’t much like these types of posts either, but every vote helps a ton in getting me noticed by the judges and reaching the top 100 entrants in the contest and move onto round 2. It literally takes less than 1 minute to click the link, hit the orange button and enter your name and email to cast the vote… Simple and easy. I’m a little behind in the contest as it started in February and I didn’t find out about it until mid-March… So I missed out on a few weeks of voting and sharing. For the next week I’ll be sharing the link a few times everyday but the only way I have a chance to make it to the second round is your continued support in voting and sharing once a day.

Please take a few minutes everyday and cast a vote for Epoch Moment Photography then share the contest post.

We only have 10 days left until the deadline of April 1st, but if all of you voted once a day we could have hundreds of votes within the week… And that would just be awesome!

Winning any position in the contest would mean the world to me!

Of course I’m aiming for the first spot… but really any of the prizes would be amazing and completely help me grow and keep doing what I do. Just that cushion of money to allow me to take a few more risks this year and grab some needed gear to increase the quality of the videos and photos I make.

I have great gear for photos and they do a decent job at video, however upgrading and grabbing some new gear specifically for video would change the game for me. Gimbals for smooth footage, monopods for run and gun video with a lot less shake, maybe even a drone… because it’s a flying camera and that super awesome!

Why I’m dipping into video and photo with Epoch Moment.

A little more than a year ago I added a vlog style video to my weddings at no cost to the couple besides an extra meal during the reception. I hire someone to grab as much footage of the wedding as they can, as well as capture some of my own video footage when I can, then put it all together to make a highlight video of their wedding. This is the first reason I’m looking into upgrading my video capabilities.

Secondly I want to create short promo videos for local businesses here in Colorado. A while back I caught this video series on YouTube called “Made in Mankato” which was exactly that… A video series showcasing local businesses in Mankato. It was well shot and creatively edited and given to the local businesses for free. That’s dope! So ever since watching this video series I’ve had the idea that this needs to be done in Colorado. How cool would it be to have a video directory of all of these small local businesses here in Colorado Springs?

Anyways… That’s one of the main reasons I’m hoping to win the 2019 FedEx Grant Contest. There’s several, but a focus on adding professional video is one of my top priorities.

Why winning this year specifically is important to me.

November 2017 I lost someone very special to me. He basically raised me and was one of the most solid individuals and mentors in my life. He passed away too early at the age of 71 and I (and my wife) were the ones to discover his body at his home here in Colorado. This completely broke me… I was lost and angry and confused for a very long time. In fact most of 2018 I was in a fog and it felt more like wandering around aimlessly than running a business.

I mention this only because of the cause and effect towards Epoch Moment due to this single event.

Between November and Feb is when more than 40% of couples get engaged. During that time and some after is when they start planning their wedding and contacting vendors and making bookings. Well I didn’t do any marketing during that time, or really even at all in all of 2018. I know this was irresponsible of me but in that moment I simply wasn’t in the right mind to promote anything, let alone a business that tells life’s best stories.

Basically, at every fault of my own, what that means is that 2019 is going to be a very tough year with minimal income from bookings. I have a few weddings and shoots for 2019 but this will definitely be my slowest year yet… Including my very first year in wedding photography.

There was a lot happening during those months with the family of the deceased that I simply cannot mention here. It was a very dark time and pulled me further from humanity than I have been in my life. As time has passed I’ve changed my perspective on the whole matter and have turned anger into motivation and I can finally use this man’s death as inspiration and a push towards success. In life he pushed me to be my best so it’s important that in his death he has the very same inspiration for me.

So with winning the FedEx Grant Contest I’d be allowed to push forward into 2020 with a marketing budget and increase my bookings to help keep the lights on as I move forward and keep doing this amazing job of being a wedding photographer.

Again… Thank you for your support in winning this contest and your continued support over the next week and beyond. Thank you!
