Madison + John | Double Diamond Ranch

Madison + John’s Wedding Day

We started the day off at Madison’s Moms house where all of the girls were getting ready. It was so fun watching all of the girls getting each other ready and getting excited for Madison. Madison’s Mom Angela had a dog who greeted us and made sure he was a part of everything that was going on. Fun fact one of the bridesmaids was Marissa whose wedding we shot two weekends later.  We all headed over to the venue Double Diamond Ranch located in Peyton, Colorado about 20 miles from Colorado Springs. It is a barn that has a beautiful view of Pikes Peak and big open fields. The inside of the barn has a getting-ready room for the girls and then a reception room that can hold about 150 guests.

It was a hot summer day but in true Colorado fashion a rain cloud hovered over us and lightning was streaking less than a mile away from us. The storm quickly passed and by the time the ceremony came, there was just a breeze and some clouds. You never know what kind of weather Colorado is going to give you on your wedding day. They had not only a flower girl but they also a beer boy who shotgunned a beer and then passed out beer to the wedding guests as he walked down the aisle.

There were many things about this day that made it special and emotional. Madison’s best friend flew in and her flight did not get there until after the ceremony. This gave them the chance to do a first look which was one of the best first looks we have witnessed. This first look had almost everyone in tears and I am so happy that we were able to capture such a special moment between the two of them. John had to leave at 6:30 am the very next day because he was in the military and had to go to a different state. So not only was it their wedding day but it was also the last day they had together before he was going to be gone for a while.

We pulled Madison and John out for sunset and it was a beautiful sunset! Of course, we love getting the sunset pictures but it also creates a moment for the bride and groom to get away from the chaos and have a moment with just the two of them. There was not a lot of dancing but it was all about hanging out with friends and family! They ended the night by popping a champagne bottle which he ended up spraying all over his bride and they were both laughing. This wedding day was full of drinking, laughing, and soaking in moments with one another.Â
