Clara + Chad Wedding
Pulling up to the Barn at Casey’s in Woodland Park I could see people running around and making sure all of the last minute details are in order. The cake was being delivered and the caterers were setting up. Everyone was very happy and making every effort to give Clara and Chad the perfect wedding.
I was about an hour earlier than the usual hour early I arrive which gave me plenty of time to walk the venue and plan my shots. I introduced myself to Anita, the venue owner, who was delightful and very friendly. I asked her where I was allowed to go during the formal shots and if there are any rules for the venue. Next to the barn is a working lumber yard, which offered a lot of unique backgrounds and interesting picture opportunities.
Before scoping out the venue property I went in to introduce myself to the bride and bridesmaids to let them know I was there and see if there’s any last minute details I should know about. We decided on the time for me to return for the bride’s getting ready shots and went over a few of the plans of the day.
With an hour to spare I walked around the venue property including the lumber yard. Started planning my groomsmen shots and formals after the ceremony. I was extremely nervous as this was my first wedding being alone. No second shooter to bounce ideas off of or no primary shooter to lead the shoot. I was it, capturing the entire day was my responsibility.
I knew that no matter how nervous I was I couldn’t let the bride or anyone else know just how nervous I was. On my way back towards the venue I stopped and looked around. The August weather was perfect, the Barn at Casey’s offered the most scenic backdrops, the bride, groom, wedding party and everyone I met so far was really nice… it was the perfect day. What was I nervous about? I know my gear and I know how to take good pictures. I was prepared for any lighting situation, had my shots planned, knew the ceremony timeline… I had nothing to be worried about. I smiled and walked back to the venue with confidence and ready to capture this wedding.
After that moment, the entire day, from the bride getting ready to the newly married couple driving off, went flawlessly. Even with a slight equipment fail right in the middle of the ceremony this was one of the best weddings I’ve shot yet. The final wedding pictures were some of the best pictures I’ve taken so far shooting weddings.
Below are some of the pictures from this wedding at the Barn at Casey’s in Woodland Park.
